The Boe-Bot Robot provides a cost-effective, flexible, and reprogrammable robotics platform for a variety of ages. Activities included with the kit require no previous programming or electronics experience. Side-by-side schematics and wiring diagrams allow students the opportunity to learn how to read schematics with the security of being able to check their work, allowing for real circuit-building on an actual breadboard. The Parallax PBASIC programming language is easy to learn and is a great first programming language for students new to writing code. It creates a strong foundation in elemental programming concepts, allowing for easy transition to higher-level programming languages in the future. The BASIC Stamp Editor development environment is available as a free download to everyone; teachers need no site license and students have the option to write code at home if they desire. After completing the 41 activities in the included Robotics with the Boe-Bot text, a variety of sensors and add-on kits are available for students to expand their robotics knowledge. More information, including a free PDF download of the included Robotics with the Boe-Bot text can be found at www.parallax.com/go/boebot |
