Cynthia Breazeal
You can have a conversation with a robot! Dr. Cynthia Breazeal, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who founded the university’s personal robots group, designs robots that can interact and cooperate with people. Dr. Breazeal created Kismet, a robot that communicates with facial expressions, gestures and voice. Like a person, Kismet can display a range of feelings, including smiling when it is happy and frowning when it is sad. Robots that can communicate with people could be used for entertainment, health care, education and a variety of other purposes.
