James  McLurkin

If you like animals, you’ll love the robots inspired by them! Dr. James McLurkin, a researcher at the University of Washington, has created SWARM robots based on the behavior of ants and bees. When it comes to working together, robots can do amazing things; each SWARM robot is designed to perform individual tasks that collectively contribute to the goals of the group, similar to the way ants and bees act. Dr. McLurkin’s research work includes developing computer software to control large groups of SWARM robots.
