Robot Rumble

Harriet Crisp

Volunteers from the Durham office did a great job educating and inspiring museum visitors on robots in general

and iRobot Maritime Systems in particular.  On display, inside the museum, were a Seaglider and several prototype research vehicles.

There were over 4,000 visitors to the Museum for the event with a steady stream of guests at the iRobot area.

This was especially true when Amber Kardes presented “Underwater Robotics 101.”

The weather was perfect outside for running the radio controlled submersible in the sailboat pond.

After a quick tutorial, the children were able to drive the vehicle around an improvised obstacle course.

Ryan Moody was even able to offer an impromptu demonstration of vehicle disassembly and
repair.
